What do productive people do daily to reach the goals they have set before them? Identify no more than 3 important tasks for the day with time management!
Productive people know they will be overwhelmed if they plan too much for themselves. Especially when starting a business, don’t get overwhelmed with the size of your goals and dreams: take it one day at a time. I personally use this strategy in order to stay focused and prevent myself from distractions or from multitasking. If you do not have a full-time job or really want to take things to a #WholeNothaLevel make what I call a #SixList.
For the next day, I like to write these 3-6 things down before bed or when I stop working so that I can put work down and be present at home! This helps me stay organized, manage my time and prioritize. I truly believe when you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!
Mike Potillo recently shared with me on a team call to simply ask yourself daily, “What is essential that I do today?” Don’t get overwhelmed. Take it one step at a time, or one day at a time, but be intentional to do something! Keep chipping away at it. Before you know it, building your business will become like second nature more and more. In the beginning, this is so helpful as we are not used to juggling another thing. 9 years into my business building adventure, this strategy has kept me focused on where to spend my time, and yet still allows me the flexibility for the things that may come up that need to be addressed!
Whether you make your plan the night before, the Sunday before or the morning before, the bottom line is PLAN ahead. As Pam Sowder says, “Stay in your power.” If you don’t tell your time where to go, others or something else will. Don’t wait until you can go part-time or even full-time to get started. Take the first step. Give it as much as you can and have fun!
